Join CUESA on Friday, May 7 from 5:30-7:30 pmfor our first hands-on cocktail class of the year with acclaimed mixologist and author Scott Beattie along with master distiller Lance Winters of St. George and Hangar One Vodka fame.
The class gets started right with a welcome cocktail for every attendee made from farmers market rhubarb, shiso, ginger and Hangar One's Buddha's hand vodka. Scott will briefly present the concepts laid out in his award-winning cocktail book, Artisanal Cocktails, Drinks Inspired by the Seasons from the Bar at Cyrus, emphasizing the importance of the proper anatomy of a cocktail.
Lance Winters will then discuss his unique and fascinating approach to micro-distillation. While his company St. George is primarily known for their all-natural flavored vodkas sold under the Hangar One name, they also manufacture absinthe, rum, agave spirit (domestic tequila), fruit brandies, and a host of other unconventional, but always memorable spirits.
Class participants will be given the opportunity to work in small groups to make their own market-fresh strawberry margaritas, classic mai tais and gimlets with St. George's rum, agave spirit, and Qi orange liqueur. Instructors Scott & Lance will be available to guide everyone through the hands-on part of the class.
As an extra special treat, II Cane Rosso will be providing delicious cocktail-friendly appetizers. Located inside the Ferry Building and created by Daniel Patterson and Laruen Kino, Cane Rosso is a casual, quick-serve rotisserie and sandwich shop.
This class is limited to 40 lucky folks and all profits will go to CUESA. You'll enjoy at least three cocktails, delicious Cane Rosso snacks, and learn from two of the Bay Area's foremost experts in the world of bars and booze for only $45.....if you can find a better way to start the weekend let us know and we'll cancel the class and join you instead!!!
